Film Fest Documentaries ‘Bike Vessel’ And ‘Food Roots’ Focus On Family
Both documentaries will screen at the 59th Chicago International Film Festival this weekend, closing out over a week celebrating film.
CHICAGO — Two documentaries spotlighting the strength and importance of intergenerational connections will premiere this weekend, closing the 59th Chicago International Film Festival with a spin and a dish.
“Bike Vessel,” a documentary directed by and starring Eric D. Seals, follows the 35-year-old director as he and his father, now 70, cycle from St. Louis to Chicago.
In “Food Roots,” a documentary by Emmy award-winning director Michele Josue, acclaimed restaurateur Billy Dec embarks on a culinary journey to rebuild lost family recipes.
The film festival will host a free screening of “Bike Vessel” 6:30 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Park, 513 W. 72nd St. The festival will have another screening 12:45 p.m. Saturday at AMC NEWCITY, 1500 N. Clybourn Ave. Tickets are available here.
